The clamp works like a pipe clamp and secures the pole in the ground sleeve nicely. The bolt takes a 9/16" wrench. One of my neighbors stopped by to find out where I got the pole and other neighbors commented on how nice it looked. The pole can be taken down very easily and is portable. It can be set up at other locations with other devices sold by Atlantic Flag and Pole. All the items I received, so far, are very well made and the service is GREAT!
